LISSY SOUTHWORTH

MS, MFLC

I understand how disheartening it can be to feel stuck and unhappy, and the work it takes to overcome those struggles can seem impossible. I want the honor of earning your trust to learn about your story – the joys, hardships, healing, and everything in between. I believe that all individuals have the power to grow and make desired changes to move differently in their worlds, and my aim is to empower you to recognize this power within you. I provide a welcoming, compassionate, judgment-free space for you to show up as your authentic self.

I join with my clients through a person-centered and systemic approach by meeting them where they are at, respecting them as experts in their own lives, and considering the impact of the many circles they belong to. I am dedicated to working collaboratively with you to accomplish your therapeutic goals, and my goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and cared for.

When working with couples, I use an approach informed by PACT, EFT, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Conflict in relationships is normal – it is how we handle it that matters, and I firmly believe that conflict provides an opportunity for us to learn how to love our partners better.

In my work with individuals, I employ a strengths-based and solution-focused approach, and I frequently draw from principles of ACT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Montana State University, where I also studied Human Development and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and a Master of Science in Human Development with a Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Colorado State University. I am currently working toward full licensure under the supervision of Kory Ann Rogers, MS, LCPC, Relationship Coach, and Rachael Dunkel-Dodier, MS, LCPC, LAC, HCDC, NBCC CDWF.
