What does anxiety look like?
Anxiety presents in many ways, but often times there is a discernible feeling of being overwhelmed. People with anxiety are easily overcome by worry or stress. Then, they become discouraged from speaking out to others.
Some days it may feel like the weight of the world is sitting on your chest. You know the feeling. It’s heavy. Harsh. Throbbing. Small tasks seem monumentally difficult. Simple things like getting dressed, finishing an assignment, or even focusing at work. Your time with family and friends is even tainted with anxiety’s weight.
Just taking the steps to get help can be overwhelming when you’re dealing with anxiety. Do you feel isolated? Unable to connect with other people because everything you think seems too extreme? Embarrassed to talk to others about your fears? Frustrated with yourself for having trouble overcoming your feelings and thoughts? These symptoms of anxiety can feel constant and are very normal when you’re living with anxiety. But, it does not have to be your normal forever.
